Technology is a double-edged sword. It can create, or it can destroy.

Nuclear weapons are the ultimate expression of technology designed to destroy. They are weapons of mass destruction, designed to indiscriminately harm civilians. The humanitarian impact of even the smallest nuclear weapons is catastrophic and unconscionable.

In my own work, I pledge to not use my skills to develop or support nuclear weapons.

I will not take part, and I call on my employer to join the majority of nations who are rejecting nuclear weapons under international law. I support the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons which will end the catastrophic threat of nuclear weapons.

Without the support of technology innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists and academics to build and maintain these inhumane weapons, nuclear weapons would not exist.

That's why I ask my fellow technologists, our companies and organizations and the leaders in our field to join us in this pledge.

It's time to disrupt nuclear weapons
